THE CRIMINAL MIND

SECOND SEMESTER

SEGOVIA

The seminar will cover the origin and evolution of criminal profiling techniques -inductive, deductive and geographic-, and all the elements coming from a crime scene that constitute an important part of an investigation. We will explain how we can classify a person taking into account behaviors and how to profile him/her using indirect elements. Along with this, we will also go through the inside of a criminal brain in order to understand behavioral and criminal acts according to recent research. Finally, we will learn how we should analyze demeanor (repertoire of nonverbal cues) and correctly detect deception using different interview tools. The seminar will clarify what is true or just a myth in most popular TV series.

ART AND SOCIAL CRITICISM

SECOND SEMESTER

SEGOVIA

One sometimes sees people walking through a gallery, catalogue in hand [ ] as soon as they have found the title or the name they walk on. People who have acquired some knowledge of art history nod wisely when they see a Rembrandt, wonderful chiaroscuro, and wander on to the next Ernst Gombrich in The Story of ArtThe quote above illustrates a struggle that many museum visitors probably recognize: how to make sense of an artwork? In this seminar we will treat art as a tool everybody can use. A tool that challenges the way we think about ourselves and the society we live in. We will discuss topics, such as cruelty, performativity, space and the digital and relate them to a wide range of art examples both traditional and contemporary. However, the emphasis in this course will be on contemporary art. During this seminar you will find out that reflecting on art also means reflecting on society. A seminar on art can, of course, not take place without looking at art itself. Therefore, one of our sessions will take place either in Museo Estaban Vicente or at an interesting contemporary art exhibition.

CREATIVITY, INNOVATION, ART, AND THE WORLD OF MARKETING

SECOND SEMESTER

SEGOVIA

What could be the role of art in the business world? In this session, we will explore the connection between creativity, art, and its application in the world of marketing. The same way we go to a gym to train our body, we could go to museums or opera houses to stretch our brains: because arts are the gym for the mind. If creativity is connecting things, these new experiences will help us establish new associations and face our business challenges from a different edge. Marketing can profit from art, as an extremely powerful tool to come up with new ideas, to spot trends and to elevate the conversation and storytelling of brands.
